I don't really like smut much; I also tend to deviate away from normalised, brainless depictions of sexism, homophobia, racism etc. because they're not entertaining to read about (I get too angry lol)
Usually I go for plot-focused stories - or maybe more accurately, for an interesting, well-written cast of characters. I'm biased towards stories where the protagonist has a niche they're really good at. The Found Family and Mentor Archetype are my favourite tropes, but I also gravitate towards dynamics with banter and witty exchanges. I love stories that make me torn about morality and give me things to reflect on afterward. Toxic relationships are fascinating to read about as long as they're not romanticised and as long as there's character growth, but I like the healthy, communicative ones too.
